MUMBAI: Item songs that have become the salt of bollywood films have even attracted and convinced top notch soulful singers to render bold lyrics. Joining the league but on a softer side is  renowned playback singer Shreya Ghoshal who encourages dance numbers but with a melodious touch and pleasing lyrics.

Ghoshal who has rendered hit item tracks like Ooh La La, Chikni Chameli and Balma is extremely careful about singing tracks that are lyrically appropriate. “I like every song. I just have one intension that the song I sing should deliver the needed emotion in my listeners. I have started singing item songs but even as I sing them I don’t want to lose my melodic touch. I am also very particular about the lyrics as I don’t want to carry the burden of why I sang the track,” she said.

She further added, “This year you will hear a lot of my original style along with absolutely strong dance numbers.”

Recently, her melodious track ‘Sun Raha Hai’ from Aashiqui 2 has also gone viral and has received good response. Ghoshal said, “I am very happy that ‘Sun Raha Hai’ is applauded by my audience. It is a beautiful melody track and that has come after a long time.”
