ishQ Bector locks horns with Censor Board
MUMBAI: Hip hop singer ishQ Bector has come under Central Board of Film Certification's scanner for his latest track- Bhoot from the album �Jhagde' released by Pen Audio.
Interestingly, it is not item girl Rakhi Sawant's raunchy appearance in the track which has attracted the censors' attention but the usage of the word �Kaminey' in the mukhda which the singer had to scissor out in the final cut.
Censor Board had demanded that ishQ beep the word from the television promotions ishQ Bector reacts, Small producers have to face the wrath of the Censor Board's double standards. The word �Kaminey' was asked to be beeped from my track Bhoot but it has been approved for Bollywood films without any inhibitions. There was Vishal Bharadwaj's recent film named Kaminey, tracks like �ishQ Kamina' featuring Sharukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai was approved years ago. Dharmendra's famous dialogue- Kuttey Kaminey mein tera… also had the word, so why target my song....
The word was beeped and the track featuring Rakhi Sawant and ishQ Bector hit the air waves last week. We had to succumb to the pressure of the Censor Board as we had deadlines to meet. The paid promotions on television were lined up for last week and we had to beep the word �Kaminey' from the promos,... states ishQ.
Labeling the whole hue and cry as a publicity stunt, a source from the Censor Board mentions that representatives of ishQ Bector agreed for a voluntarily cut before the screening. He further mentions, The producers agreed on a voluntary cut and the word �Kaminey' was subsequently beeped in the final cut for television broadcast....
The source further mentions that there is a procedure of re-applying before the revising committee who would in turn take the decision on the censored word. If they had issue with the Censor Board's decision, they could have applied to the revising committee and the very fact that they are talking to the media instead implies that it is an act to get publicity....
Rubbishing the Censor Board's claims, the hip hop singer firmly states, Why would we agree on a voluntary cut if we spend so much time on making our product?...
This is however, not the first time that ishQ Bector's outrageous lyrics have come under the Censor Board's scanner. His earlier track �Aye Hip Hopper' with Sunidhi Chauhan, which brought him into the limelight, also had to undergo Censor's scissors for the word- �IIsh sir loona phone'
Although the Censor Board has asked the singer to beep the word form the television promotions, the word �kaminey' remains in the physical copies released by Pen Audio.
Quizzed if the singer who pens his own lyrics would be careful in future, the singer laughs, I am going to make more cutting edge music and would like to have a brush with the Censor Board's double standard again!...
