Jay Sean, RDB, Talvin nominated for Urban Music Awards

MUMBAI: Internationally acclaimed musicians and music producers of Indian origin RDB, hip-hop artiste Jay Sean and Talvin Singh have been nominated at this year's 7th annual Urban Music awards show for the Best UK Asian Act.
Surj from RDB said, "We are thrilled at the news; It's an honor that our work is getting recognized and we are pushing Asian music in the right way. It's brilliant that the UMA's have a category for British Asian Music." RDB will also be competing for in the Best Band category against chart topping bands like The Noisettes, N Dubz and JLS. RDB have been producing music for over a decade fusing Bhangra and Garage music, in addition to their presence in bollywood films like Aloo Chaat.
The Urban Music Awards will allow the millions of followers of music and musicians of Asian origin throughout the UK the opportunity to vote for their favourite Asian Music act to win this award. Also, the launch of this new category will also give birth to the Desi UMA rising star competition. The competition will see entries from lesser known British Asian acts from all around the UK with the winner to be selected, announced an giving an opportunity to perform live at the UMA's next month.
The Urban Music Awards were launched in 2003, and is similar to the MOBO Awards. The UMA's is now held in six countries annually. This year, the 7th Awards UK 2009 award is scheduled for 1 November 2009.
