MUMBAI: Last.fm plans to control the relaunch of AOL Europe's online radio platform. The service will be initially available in France, Germany and U.K with plans to start the operations in all across Europe in the coming months.

The engagement of AOL Radio users with Last.fm's 21 million global visitors will create a powerful online music community. AOL users will be able to access to Last.fm's Free-On-Demand Service and Interactive Music Discovery Features Talking about the deal for AOL, SVP of European Operations Jonathan Lister said in a report, "I am thrilled that this partnership will enable AOL's users to discover and actively engage with new music and genres - thus creating an online community of music fans that spans the globe."

With regards to AOL's content strategy he added, "Monetising great content is the key to AOL's success. The rich engagement that users have with this site allows us to maximise the revenue potential available."

Last.fm co-founder Martin Stiksel said that they were very excited to be teaming up with AOL in Europe to power their online radio platform. "We can offer a unique music discovery and listen- again service with the millions of tracks in our catalogue, allowing us to bring groundbreaking interactivity to online radio sites like AOL's," he added.

AOL Radio users will now include new features such as the ability to search for artists and listen to a continuous stream of their music or that from similar artists. They will also have the option of launching their own stations based on an extensive range of music genres.

Last.fm will enable AOL Radio users in Germany and the UK to repeatedly listen to any track they want to hear via Last.fm's free-on-demand service.

Alongside the streamed music stations, AOL Radio listeners will have access to extra content including videos, pictures and event listings, and discover new music through the recommendations of other users.
