London Grammar and Arctic Monkeys win big at the 2014 AIM Awards
MUMBAI: On 2 September, the Association of Independent Music (AIM) hosted its fourth annual Independent music awards.
Up and coming artistes of the independent music scene London Grammar continued their triumphant rise with two awards, Arctic Monkeys picked up the coveted Independent Album Of The Year Award, while their label Domino Records collected Independent Label of The Year and dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip won VEVO's Independent Video Of The Year Award for 'You Will See Me'.
The event opened with a live performance by Twin Atlantic, and was closed with spellbinding grace by Daughter, performing in honour of this year's Pioneer Award winner Martin Mills, founder and chairman of The Beggars Group.
Twin Atlantic collected the Independent Track of The Year Award for their smash 'Heart and Soul', and London Grammar picked up two awards on the night, Independent Breakthrough of The Year and the PPL Award for The Most Played New Independent Act.
Well-known music journalist and 'The Quietus' editor John Doran took home the Indie Champion prize, while rapper Ghetts won the Hardest Working Band or Artist Award. The much loved festival Barn on the Farm received the Golden Welly Award for Best Independent Festival.
Disc jockey, producer and record label owner, Richie Hawtin was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award.
