Lorde rumoured to recruit Grace Jones, Diplo, Simon Le Bon and Charli XCX for Hunger Games
MUMBAI: The 'Royals' star Lorde has been curating the soundtrack for the heavily anticipated film 'Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1', which is due to be launched in November.
Her single for the movie, 'Yellow Flicker Beat' was released last week and she performed the song on October 2 at a gig in Berkeley, California. The track went straight up to number two position on the American Billboards chart.
About the track, the 17 year old singer wrote on her Tumblr feed, "It's my first offering from what I hope will be a soundtrack you love. It's my attempt at getting inside her head, Katniss' (character of Jennifer Lawrence in the movie)."
"I hope you like it. We are almost at the end, the point where this soundtrack gets taken away from me and becomes something real," she added.
This is not the first track she has sung for the 'Hunger Games' movie franchise. She had also contributed to the series with her song 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World' for 'Catching Fire' soundtrack.
This time, in addition to her own song, she is also looking at other artistes who will be contributing to the movie soundtrack album, which will be released by Republic Records. Rumours are afloat about Lorde getting musicians like Grace Jones, Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon, Diplo and Charli XCX (known for singing 'Boom Clap' from The Fault In Our Stars) on board, to sing tracks on the album.
Earlier this year, she had tweeted, "I am so pleased and proud to have been announced the sole creator of the soundtrack for MOCKINGJAY - PART 1."
She had also stated, "Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge but I jumped at the chance. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people."
The New York Post had previously reported that Kanye West was recording a song with Lorde, which could possibly land up in the soundtrack.
