Manasi Scott debuts on Artistaloud's Webcerts

MUMBAI: Manasi Scott is a regular on the music circuit juggling acting and emceeing along with her musical career. The singer is all set for her webcert debut on Hungama's Artistaloud  where her live performance will be webcasted to fans all over the world.

Talking about her association with Artistaloud Scott says, "It was more of an experiment that I wanted to do. Live music is my forte and I thought of giving a shot to this medium. It will be a 45 minute performance where along with my band I will be performing six original tracks, three of which are already on Artisaloud.

Further giving her take on the concept of Webcerts, Scott explains, "Webcerts in India are still in a very nascent stage. You cannot compare it to internationally where more than 20,000 people log in to watch a U2 concert. But it is a step towards that path. Having said that, I also feel that the old way of concert has its own charm that can never be replaced."

Tracing her carrier graph Scott relates, "I am more of a item girl as I like dancing and singing," she adds with a chuckle. "I have had a slow and steady rise with more focus on concerts.

Extremely passionate about non-film music, Scott believes that it is the negligible promotion of the artiste that ringed the death bell for the genre. "There is a lot of talent in pop music that needs to be pushed but currently it is lacking support from the industry. Rather than the album it is the artiste that needs to be packaged and promoted. West works on this model and it has proved to be successful time and again, closer home, Himmesh Reshamiya is a good example where in he was promoted more than his album, making him a big star. If music labels spend a small part on promoting artistes as compared to what is spent on film music the genre will get a big boost and will set on the path of revival."

When quizzed about the fact that in absence of physical sale is digital the way to go, Scott replies, "Digital is one of the medium to explore. Physical sales or CD's are redundant hence we need to head towards this path. It gives access to a wider audience since it is not geographically restricted. But we need to make it a payable medium where audience can download good quality of music and pay for it."

The singer though is planning to release her single soon, is very skeptical about releasing an album. "The music channels prefer singles rather than you presenting an entire album. You can give distribute singles to different channels. So you get more airplay. Also, it is difficult to promote an entire album as compared to a single."

Scott is also contemplating about launching her own music label. "It is easier and better way to put out your music."

Scott has her plate full this year with several projects tucked under her belt. She is scheduled to perform in Las Vegas and Time Square in the coming months. She has also composed an English track, the video of is going to be aired on VH1 soon. The singer is also excited about her forth coming film with John Abraham titled Jhootha Hi Sahi where she plays the second lead. "Infact John has even agreed to do a music video for one my tracks." Scott is also singing for several Bollywood movies including Peter Gaya Kaam Se, composer Monty Sharma's next and few others apart from crooning for several regional films down South
