Mirchi Music Awards are a great effort: Mohit Chauhan

Poonam Ahuja spoke to some of the delighted winners at the Uninor Mirchi Music Awards 2010 Powered by Karbonn Mobiles. Here is what they said to her:

Singer Mohit Chauhan, who sang the extremely popular song, Pee Loon, from Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, which won the Uninor Mirchi Listeners' Choice  Award for Best Album of the Year, said, It feels very nice to have won such a prestigious award. I wish to congratulate Pritam for making such a beautiful album, and I am really happy to have been a part of it. I would also like to thank our audiences and listeners who make our songs so successful. It feels great because my audience has given me lots of love --  not only in India, but also abroad. It is very nice to see Radio Mirchi holding such music awards, which is something that's very rare among Radio Channels. In fact, I think Radio  Mirchi is the only Radio channel that has been doing this… for three years now. Indeed, it's a great effort, and I am delighted to have won an award here....

Top musician and versatile instrumentalist Charanjit Singh -- popularly known as Channi ji -- who won a very special Jury Award for Outstanding Contribution to Hindi Film Music, said, I am really very happy to have won this award. See, I have been playing for Hindi film song recordings and have been active in Music for more than 40 years now, and this is the first award I have been honoured with. I have played with nearly each and every music director in  my career, right from Naushad sahab to Jatin Lalit, and I am blessed that I could contribute to some very popular Hindi film songs. I must thank Radio Mirchi for giving me this award. In fact, they have done a great job by starting these awards. Last year, Kersi Lord won it, and he too has done a lot of wonderful work. Please convey my thanks to Radio Mirchi and the jury of the awards. I am happy to receive this recognition for a lifetime's work. It makes it all worth it...

Rekha Bhardwaj, who received lyricist Gulzar's trophy for his Best Lyricist of the Year Award win for Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji, said, I'm feeling on top of the world, right now, because this is my baba's award. The finally shortlisted songs were indeed a tough group, but I was always very confident about my baba's brilliance and his style, and I always felt he would win it!...

Lalit Pandit, composer of the Best Song of the Year, Munni Badnaam, sung by Mamta Sharma and Aishwarya, told RadioAndMusic.com, It feels marvelous to win this award. In one word,  I feel â€?great!' For one, it's the jury award, and it feels wonderful as this is the only award we get from our people. It's a big honor. In fact, to me, it's the biggest award, as it is from the fraternity. It's wonderful as it's the first award function that has decided that there should be awards dedicated to people who are connected with music like composers, writers. There are many other technical categories which never get recognized. In Mirchi Music Awards, the people behind the screen, behind the song,  are recognized,  so it's a very good thought. I hope Radio Mirchi carries this on every year in an even bigger way. Today we are going into various genres in the music category, and it's only going to grow bigger and better!...

Salman Khan Afridi and Farhad K Dadybujor won the Best Song Engineer of the Year award for Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji. Afridi said, I am very nervous and overwhelmed!  It feels very good to have won the Mirchi Music award. It is a prestigious recognition, as the jury is senior, very respected, and there were many good songs in the competition. So I am really happy....

Sandeep Shirodkar, winner of the Best Background Score of the Year award for Dabangg, said, I am very happy to have won the Mirchi Music Award as these awards are especially for music. It feels absolutely amazing to have won for the best background score. Arbaaz and Abhinav were the ones who stood by me and supported me throughout. I share a very good rapport with them,  and I have also done programming and arranging for Dabangg....
