MTV lodges police complaint against ransackers

MUMBAI: MTV has filed a police complaint against the crowd of a particular community, for ransacking the music channel's office premises in Mumbai on 16 June.

Satish Manshinde, the lawyer representing MTV India, told Indiantelevision.com, We have lodged a police complaint. It was unfortunate and not a proper democratic way of protesting. We did not mean to hurt anybodys religious sentiments and it (the poster in concern) did not mean anything derogatory against anyone.

On Monday, some 100 members of a religious community gathered around the MTV office in Parel, Mumbai. They were protesting against a poster of MTVs new show On The Job, saying it hurts the sentiments of the community. The poster portrays a Sikh man peeping in a massage parlour, where a woman is giving a massage. The tagline of the poster is ?‹?“Jobs your parents wont understand. After the heated argument, the events turned ugly and the mob started to pelt stone at the office gate. One employee has been injured in the mishap.

MTV spokesperson, however, refuses to comment over the matter saying, the matter is sub-judice now.
