Rose Anderson, Executive Director of NYF's Radio Program & Promotion Awards competition, announced the following new categories: Best Sports Newscast, Best Sports Anchor/Reporter, Sports Promotion, Green Promotion, Public Service Announcement, and Heroes The newly launched Heroes category gives the competition the opportunity to recognize stories of ordinary people whose acts of heroism or advocacies have touched the lives of people and set an example for others to follow.

NYF continually adapts its categories to mirror worldwide programming trends in the broadcast industry today Current category groups include: News Programs, News Reports / Features, Satellite Radio, Information / Documentary, Entertainment, Talk Programs, On-Air Talent, Craft & Technique, Programming Format, Promotion Spots, IDs, Audio Podcasts, and Student categories.
2010's award winners include: Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Ben Manilla Productions, Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Deutsche Welle, Fresh Air Production, George Washington University, Global Radio, Radio Clyde, Radio Free Asia, Radio Mirchi, Radio Netherlands, Radio Television Hong Kong, Sirius XM Radio, Ten Alps Radio, WNYC Public Radio, WFMT, and The New York Philharmonic.
The Radio Programming & Promotion Awards Grand Jury enlists jurists from all over the world, representing some of the most recognizable voices and captivating programming producers in the industry The 2011 jury will be announced soon.
Entries are judged based on their production values, organization, presentation of information, creativity, and use of the medium Each jury member listens to and scores entries via the NYF online judging website.
Since 1990, the Radio Program & Promotion Awards and the United Nations Department of Public Information offer the opportunity for entrants to be awarded the prestigious United Nations Department of Public Information Award This award honors radio broadcasting that best exemplifies the ideals and goals of the United Nations
The International Radio Program & Promotion Awards will honor the winning entries on June 20th at an awards ceremony in New York City All winning entries of the New York Festivals Radio Programming & Promotion Award Competition are featured at www.newyorkfestivals.com, and are promoted by NYF's network of representatives in 75 countries around the world.
