Ozzy Osbourne is the recipient of MTV EMA's Global Icon Award 2014
MUMBAI: English heavy metal vocalist Ozzy Osbourne will be honoured at Scotland with the Global Icon Award at the MTV EMAs. Last year, the award was presented to 'The Monster' rapper Eminem.
The Birmingham born songwriter made the revelation about the new honour through his official Facebook page. He has earned the informal title of 'Godfather of Heavy Metal' for his contribution in the Heavy Metal genre. The Black Sabbath frontman had a victorious solo career with 11 studio albums, three Grammy awards, and was also inducted into UK Music Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath and as a solo artiste.
Ozzy's 'Memoirs of a Madman'- a compilation album, will be available for Ozzy fans on 14 October. His last association with MTV was for his reality show 'The Osbournes' in which he starred alongside his wife and three children.
Other recipients of the honour are Bon Jovi in 2010, Queen in 2011, and Whitney Houston in 2012.
The Prince of Darkness will receive the honour in Glasgow's SSE Hydro on 9 November. MTV EMA awards will be broadcast live across the globe.
The show will be hosted by Anaconda rapper Nicki Minaj. Along with Minaj, other performers whose names have been revealed include Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran.
