Paul McCartney to culminate London Olympics 2012 opening ceremony

MUMBAI: Beatles legendary singer Sir Paul McCartney will culminate the opening ceremony of London Olympics 2012 with a performance on his popular track ‘Hey Jude’.
The 70-year-old singer has been booked to belt out his 1968 Beatles hit at the ‘Isles of Wonder’ show, which is claimed to witness 60,000 stadium spectators and a billion global TV audience. The legendary singer will perform a sing-a-long with the pop anthem.
Renowned music composer AR Rahman has also scored a track to be played at the inaugural ceremony of London Olympics 2012. Interestingly, a song 'Naandhaan Ungappanda’ composed by maestro Ilayaraja for the 1981 movie Ram Laxman will also be played.
The ?27 million show to be held on 27 July will also feature floats reflecting immigration, trade union action and the suffragette movement. The three-hour show directed by Danny Boyle will celebrate Britain’s history of political protest and mass immigration.
