Pix to show film on Michael Jackson on his first death anniversary

NEW DELHI: The English Movie Channel Pix, which acquired the exclusive telecast rights for the legendary documentary on Michael Jackson – This is it earlier this year, has begun a unique campaign to market this film. For the first time, the channel is taking the help of one of India's finest metal bands, Something Relevant', for this purpose.

PIX will telecast This Is It on 25 June to mark MJ's first death anniversary. The documentary is a compilation of interviews, rehearsals and backstage footage of Michael Jackson as he prepared for his series of sold-out shows in London just before his death. The film has been nominated as the best documentary feature film for the Critics' Choice Award. Distributed by Sony Pictures, the film has reached $222.6 million in box office receipts worldwide.

Nearing the first death anniversary of Jackson and to pay their tribute, Pix has scheduled a four-city legendary Michael Jackson tribute - Moonwalker's night to celebrate with fans the spirit of Michael Jackson, beginning with Delhi and then going on to the other metro cities. The Delhi concert by Something Relevant' was held over the weekend.

Something Relevant aka STR, young India's leading Jam Rock Band, is poised to take off to the Stadium Stage. After setting pan-India and international venues alight over five live-wire years through countless gigs and a reputation for explosive live acts, STR have fast established themselves as the reigning authority on Feel-Good! The 7-member ensemble have discovered sounds that are a resonating fusion of their classic blend of jazz, funk, blues, reggae, rock, pop, soul & afro highlife, with the pulsing metrics of the mega polis Bombay.

The absolutely thrilled band members are excited to perform Michael Jackson's popular numbers in their unique STR... style. Dominated by funk though it be, it exudes the undying optimism of a new-young nation, signaling to the world the coming-of-age of a whole new Indian genus.

Sunder Aaron, Business Head, PIX comments, Michael Jackson is the most loved pop artist in the world! His death shook the world. This extraordinary film allows fans to witness the talent which made him a genius up close and personal....
