Psy's new hit 'Gentleman' banned in S Korea

MUMBAI: Following the tradition of rock and pop stars, Korean rap sensation Psy's latest hit song ‘Gentleman’ has irked officials leading to the song being banned in his country of South Korea.

Psy's new video which shows him in a series of funny misendevours include kicking away a traffic cone.

Major broadcaster, Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), has reportedly banned the new music video as the rapper is shown 'abusing public property’. KBS has stated, "The scene doesn't meet its standards as a public broadcaster. It has apparently banned other videos in the past for similar reasons," reports say.

Korean is home to a galaxy of pop stars who have made their careers from sanitized pop songs and squeaky clean images. Contrary to Psy's image, Korean pop or 'K-Pop’ as it is globally known, has been exported around the world as  ‘safe’ entertainment and is hugely popular in Asia.

Psy on his part may not have to worry too much as the ban is likely to add publicity to his song and image, always welcomed in the entertainment industry.
