Radio One to run Ultimate Aussie Cricket Fan contest

MUMBAI: Radio One is scheduled to run Ultimate Aussie Cricket Fan contest in Mumbai and Delhi. A six-week challenge that will test participants' knowledge on Australian cricket and on Australia as a holiday destination, Ultimate Aussie Cricket Fan is organised by Tourism Australia in co-operation with Cricket Australia. The contest is also supported by the Mid Day newspaper.

The Ultimate Aussie Cricket Fan challenge will offer its two winners (one each from Mumbai and Delhi) a holiday trip for two to Melbourne. The winners will watch India taking on Australia in a one-day match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on 10 February 2008.

Prior to match day, the winners will also get a private behind-the-scenes tour of the MCG, including a tour of the field of play. In addition, a whole tourism package is on offer.

"With the Indian cricket team's upcoming tour of Australia, there will be significant interest in Australia - as much for the cricket series as for the destination itself. We hope to engage our audiences deeply with the contest, but not by advertising alone," said Tourism Australia GM for South, Southeast Asia and the Gulf countries Maggie White.

The challenge will commence on 17 December with entries via SMS before 30 December. Radio One will select 10 participants by on-air quiz and two from selected malls of Mumbai and Delhi, and on 25 January the winners will be decided with audience poll.

The audience also may win goodie bags containing cricket memorabilia.
