Rahman joins music royalty to record MJ's anthem

MUMBAI: Grammy award winning Indian musician A R Rahman has joined voices with some of the biggest names in the music industry like Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Barbara Streisand and Kanye West to record a cover of Michael Jackson's peace anthem 'We Are The World'.

The 44-year-old singer-composer who picked up two golden gramophones over the weekend, headed straight to the studio afterwards to record the song which will help raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake, along with 80 other artistes .

"At the re-recording of 'We Are The World' to raise funds for the Haiti earthquake," tweeted Rahman.

Legendary producer Quincy Jones and singer Lionel Richie invited Rahman, who won two Oscar awards last year for the soundtrack of the hit movie 'Slumdog Millionaire', to participate in the new charity single, reports the Los Angeles Times.
