Raja Hassan releases first solo album

MUMBAI: Zee's music talent hunt Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 first runner up Raja Hassan is ready with his solo album, titled Yaar Mila De Re, two years after his share of television fame. The album is being launched by Universal music and comprises seven tracks.
Speaking about the album, Raja says,"The sound of the album is a mix of the music sound of the 80s and the present sound. The songs are long - just like you heard in the 80s but the treatment is modern. The songs on this album range from sufi, pop, rock, peppy dance numbers and even (Kabir's) dohe," he says.
Raja says, It was my deepest wish that my father should compose my album, and that has finally happened." Hassan's father, Rafiq Sagar is a singer and music director and has composed all the seven tracks for the album. The lyrics too have been penned by him. Hassan has been trained by his maternal grandfather and father who played a major role in grooming him as a singer.
Raja is still bound by a contract with Zee, however, his album which was supposed to be released by Vishal-Shekhar has been on hold for a while. "Both Vishal-Shekhar have been extremely busy with their work and other commitments. I think once they get free, we will start working," he says.
The Bikaner born singer has lent his voice for Vishal Shekhar's compositions for tracks like Maari Teetri' from the film De Taali and Lucky boy' from Bachna Ae Haseeno. His recent track for Bollywood is 'Delhi-destiny' from the film 99 composed by Ashu Phatak. "I have never sang a track like that - it's an out an out rock number. I am experimenting because I don't want people to label me of singing tracks from particular genre," he clarifies.
Raja Hassan is also on the the title track of animation film Mahabharat composed by Vishal-Shekhar. His other upoming Bollywood projects are Kabootar, Saadiyaan and Dekh Bhai Dekh.
