Review: Bose QuietComfort 15 ÔÇô A must have for professionals

MUMBAI: The Bose QuietComfort 15 stands true to its name for sure.
For these headphones, Bose has implemented over three decades of research in noise reduction technology. The price range maybe a bit on the steeper side (Rs 16,763), but those seriously into music production/ sound engineering will definitely benefit from this latest marvel by Bose. Let's try to answer some of the basic questions about the product.
How superior is the noise cancelling feature?
Superb! One can feel its effectiveness once its put on (creates a sort of vacuum) even when the music is not playing. Once the music is on, the sound remains consistently clear even as you glide through various genres - from classical, rock, electronic or dance music - this makes it apt for DJs, sound designers, and music producers who often have to catch those minor sound nuances that otherwise are overlooked. The best part is, you can be in a noisy environment, and still enjoy the music as if you are in a studio.
To activate the noise reduction / cancellation feature, one has to insert an AAA battery (gives approx 35 hrs play time) in one of the ear cups and slide the power switch present on the ear cup – and voila! you are shifted to a studio! However, the music's volume can ONLY be controlled through the system/software that you are using as there is no separate volume control on the headphones. The headphones also come with a Hi-fi and Lo- fi preset that are concealed inside the headphone. The downside is, one has to remove the headphone wires from the ear cups end (they are easily detachable) in order to toggle between the two presets.
What about the comfort?
The headphone scores for its comfort and fit. It's neither too close nor not too loose - and this is one thing that is really impressive about the Bose QuietComfort 15. They manage to get the fit right, and that's one of the reasons you won't mind putting it on for long hours. Another important addition by Bose is that the headphones come with a soft case, in which they perfectly snuggle in – ensuring that the priced possession remains safe and protected from mishandling. Other peripheries include a dual 3.5 mm output plug that comes handy when you are on a flight. Now, most would be wondering - is it a wireless headset? Well, it's wired!!
