Selena Gomez announces 56 city world tour

MUMBAI: Latin singing star Selena Gomez is embarking on her first international world tour covering 56 cities. Titled ‘Stars Dance World Tour’, it will commence in August and will move across North America, Europe and Russia before culminating in November.

The tour is being held to promote her highly-anticipated album, after the singer performed her new single ‘Come & Get It’ on the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.

The singer announced the tour on Ryan Seacrest’s show on 15 April and stated, “It’s going to be a bigger show. I’m excited. I kind of missed shows when it used to just be about the dancing and the performing as opposed to how big and elaborate the stage is so I kind of want to get back to that. My favourites were Britney Spears and Janet Jackson so I kind of want it to be a bit more dancing and make it about entertainment and about the show and the songs as opposed to how big the stage and effects are.”

It will commence on 14 August in Vancouver and move across cities like Toronto, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Paris, London, Milan, Minsk, Moscow, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago and more. The tour will culminate on 27 November in St Louis.

In a statement Gomez said, “I couldn’t be more excited to tour again but this time around the world. This has been such an interesting few months. My music has grown, and I want my fans to see a new side of me. Can't wait to see y'all on the road.”

Apart from that, Gomez will also be performing on 27 April at the Radio Disney Music Awards where she has been nominated for Best Female Artist.
