Shamir Tandon has plate full of Bollywood projects for '10

MUMBAI: He is a regular in the Madhur Bhandarkar stable having composed music for his trilogy Traffic Signal, Page 3, Corporate and Jail.

Corporate turned music director Shamir Tandon has been in the media glare for having composed track with the legendary musician Lata Mangeshkar for Madhur Bhandarkar's Jail. The musician who scored music for Acid Factory, Aamras and Jail last year has an impressive line up for the year.

Tandon has his plate full with Pritish Nandy's horror film Click which will release this month. "The album has five romantic tracks and the first look of the music is out today," he says. Mittal V/s Mittal, a courtroom drama is another fil for which he has scored the music. The music of the film is scheduled to be released during end of March -early April. Mumbai Chakachak staring Rahul Bose, Loot staring Govinda, Anupam Kher starer Hawaidada, Cheers- celebrate life starring Dharmendra, Sunny Deol and Booby Deol and Vinay Pathak's next are his other projects lined up for the year.

The composer has recently composed for the Idea campaign which will be aired on radio. The jingle is composed in seven languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telegu, Malyalam, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi. "For each language I have created a new localised tune which will be different from each other. Normally a single tune is composed and the lyrics in different language is added to use it for different markets. This would also be the crucial differentiation factor for this jingle which has different tune for different language with the signature idea tune playing at the end of all the tracks," says Tandon who has scored music for several advertisements before

The composer has roped in local singers of the language to add the authentic flavour. "Arun Illay has crooned for the Marathi track, the Hindi version is a qawwali track, Bengali version has a folk rustic feel to it, Shree Kumar has crooned for the Tamil version," he further adds.

The composer finds making jingles more challenging than composing for films. "In a jingle the whole message is conveyed in 30-40 seconds and one has to keep the brand identity in mind. The whole essence of the project is crunched in that 30 second in an advertisement. The length of the film tracks is comparatively long. Hence composing for jingles is a little more challenging," Tandon quips.
