Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy get royalty share for four projects

MUMBAI: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have struck gold with their forthcoming films. The musical trio who got a 50 per cent royalty share for Johny Gadaar's music, swear by changing the scenario for the creative men in no time.

Producers of these four films, Chandni Chowk to China, Love By Chance, Rock On and an untitled film produced by Adlabs, will be giving them a plum royalty share of the music. On being asked about the partnership in figures, Shankar Mahadevan says that they are still negotiating with the production houses. "Some of them will give us the performance rights. We need a proper system in our country for us to own the digital and physical rights of a particular album," adds the vocalist. They have registered with PRS - London, hence they own the rights of performing there.

T-Series in a recent report by Radioandmusic.com had mentioned that they refuse to give any royalty share to the music composers. However, Chandni Chowk to China has been acquired by the music label.

T-Series President - marketing media publishing (TV) Vinod Bhanushali says, "I am not aware of any clause of this sort in our agreement."

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy were one of the first ones to set this trend and see it taking shape in the years to come. "There is no point in saying that India is going global if we are not adapting the international formats in the right sense. It is always a two way process and we will soon get our rights," sounds off Shankar.
