Spic Macay fest starts 28 February

MUMBAI: Spic Macay 08, the classical music fest, will be held from 28 February to 20 March across Mumbais schools and colleges. The fest will be inaugurated by Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasiya (flautist), Shubha Mudgal (vocalist), Dr N Rajam (violinist) and other accomplished figures.

Some of the venues for this even are IIT, NITIE (Powai), UICT (Matunga), Anjuman Islam (VT), IGIDR (Goregaon), ITM (Khargar). While the concerts are held at educational institutes with an aim to reach out to students, Spic Macay events are well attended by music lovers from all walks of life.The series for 2008 will be inaugurated on the evening of 29 February at the University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT) at Matunga.

Spic Macay, which completed 30 years in 2007, enjoys tremendous goodwill among the artist community as well as schools and colleges. In the recently concluded series of Spic Macay, Virasat 2007, over 30 lecture demonstrations espousing various art forms like classical music, classical dance, folk arts were conducted in schools and colleges across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane.
