Twitter acquires music service We Are Hunted

MUMBAI: Twitter has acquired Australian-based music streaming startup We Are Hunted.

Both companies confirmed the deal but terms and financial details of the agreement are not disclosed publicly.

According to We Are Hunted website,  "While we are shutting down wearehunted.com, we will continue to create services that will delight you, as part of the Twitter team.” The music streaming site was launched in Brisbane, Australia in 2009 but recently they relocated to California.

The core team responsible for the development of We Are Hunted is led by Stephen Phillips and Richard Slatter and includes, Michael Doherty, Adrian McLean, and Ben Novakovic. We Are Hunted received over 100,000 visits in its first week online.

Earlier, Twitter had bought Vine, a small video-sharing service, that has become one of the most popular apps in Apple iTunes store. Video clips created with Vine have a maximum length of six seconds and can be shared or embedded on a variety of social networking services, such as Twitter or Facebook.
