Universal Music launches A R Rahman`s `Pray for Me Brother`
MUMBAI: After rocking India with his patriotic album `Vande Mataram`, A R Rahman has released his first English song, `Pray For Me Brother` in association with Universal Music.
According to an official release, `Pray For Me Brother` is the world`s first music video shot in the mobile cinemascope format to enable suitable viewing by mobile customers. The video was shot in black and white by `Vande Mataram` director Bharatbala. The video will be launching exclusively on the Nokia N series music edition of mobile phones.
While the song has been written by Blaaze and composed and sung by Rahman.
Commenting on his first attempt, Rahman said, "This is my first humble step in making music that is for the whole world as an audience and truly one, in unison."
"It happened when i met Mr. Sathya (Ex-WHO), who suggested that i should come up with a song towards the tuberculosis cause, for which the UN had appointed me as their brand ambassador. And as i was thinking of this, i noticed the poverty around that we seem to have become immune to. I then called up my friend, Blaaze, and asked him if we could write something on this. And thus the song was born. "
`Pray for Me Brother` will be the world first music video which has been shot on mobile cinemascope format, specially shot to suit viewing for mobile phone users, the video has been shot by Bharatbala of Vande Mataram fame.
