Universal Music launches Indian Idol 6 album

MUMBAI: Celebrating the voices of the sixth edition of the singing reality show Indian Idol, Universal Music India recently launched the music album of show’s final four contestants titled ‘Indian Idol - Fabulous Four’.

Comprising of eight tracks, the album features the final four – Vipul Mehta, Amit Kumar, Devendra Pal Singh and Poorvi Koutish collaborating with renowned bollywood singers like Shaan, Mauli Dave, Shilpa Rao and Rekha Bhardwaj. It has been compiled by acclaimed composer Shameer Tandon. Lyricist Sameer has penned one track titled ‘Pal’ rendered by Vipul Mehta. The soothing song talks about moments within the show and Mehta’s feeling on being crowned winner.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com on the track, Sameer said, “It was a great experience writing this track. The style I chose was different and one that matched with today’s generation of music. It is a very soothing track and rendered beautifully by Mehta.”

The album is a first of its kind in many ways because it features all the finalists along with the winner, and it is also the first time Bollywood singers have rendered the tracks along with the contestants. Earlier this year, the first single ‘Pal’ premiered as the ‘Indian Idol Winners single’ on the show. The four young singers sang different renditions of the track that marked out their journey through the show.

Universal Music India & SAARC MD Devraj Sanyal said, “We are extremely proud to represent four of the best new voices in the country on this path-breaking album. We have always strived to promote deserving talent and Indian Idol is the ideal platform to do so. I’m sure that this album will establish them as worthy artists that deserve a heartfelt welcome into the music industry.”
