XM to bring Jackson's Thriller to life again

MUMBAI: 25 years after the launch of Thriller, satellite radio XM pays tribute to pop singer Michael Jackson, with the release of the XM Thriller on 1 March.

The new channel will feature Jackson's solo works as well as recordings from the Jackson 5. It would also contain his interviews and stories from other artists, packed with unique content that celebrates Jackson's musical contribution.

According to the channel's executive vice president of programming Eric Logan, it will pay tribute to the best selling album in the world and the music icon which has influenced singers like Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Lopez, Jay-Z, Pharell Williams and countless other artists.

The 25th anniversary reissue, "Thriller 25," will be released nationwide on 12 February, and includes every song from the original release re-mastered, plus several new remixes featuring Akon, will.i.am, Fergie and Kanye West Quincy Jones, who has already produced Thriller, would serve as the executive advisor for the channel, and provide counsel on the channel's creative direction and structure.

Michael Jackson's Thriller had given him international super stardom. He was the first to have seven top-ten singles with 104 million copies of the album sold worldwide. He started his musical career with Jackson 5 and was amongst the one to have the most successful solo career in the music history.

Jackson was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 as a member of The Jackson 5 and in 2001 for his achievements as a solo artist.
