Archana's Diary: Shail Hada - Super talented, super humble singing star!
Many Musical-E-Azam listeners didn't have any clue what Shail Hada's musical tete-e-tete on MeA be like, but surprise-surprise, it was by far one of the 'chhupa rustam', wah-Ustad type of shows!
Firstly the guy is truly a 'santushtttt' soul! That's probably why he hasn't lobbied around and approached music directors for work.
He is simply happy to find his guru in Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He refers to him as sir'. For him, assisting SLB in music direction and being able to learn as much about music as he can from behind the scenes, makes him feel he is plunging deeper and deeper into music, as there is so much to learn. That explains how he managed to arrange the music for Udi and Maja Saiba!
He has had quiet a bit of a struggle in his life, but says because his house in Rajasthan was in front of a mandir, all the pujari's temperament rubbed off on him as well. That's why he has never been desperate for work, or anxious about what will happen in life, and never gets angry he says! His marriage reminds you of Hrithik and Barbara in Kites. His wife is Manipuri, and they don't speak each other's language but manage to communicate only through sign language!
In fact because he comes from a conservative Marwadi family (mom is a principle and father is a singer) his interaction with girls was always limited. So finally when he did decide to get married, his parents didn't support it and he rushed to Manipur to tie the knot!
The first 3 days he couldn't even meet his wife-to-be because of the insurgency that was on!
But nothing ruffles him. The only thing that he thinks about what his father told him: "Hatheli pe dil rakh ke gaao!"
He sang us a bandish, Allah Jaane Maula Jaane, in raag Miya ki todi and we were mesmerized! All this because he has been so extensively training (taking training and giving it too) for so many years that music is in his veins! His students from Marine Lines to Borivli have been calling him incessantly to tell him how they loved his work in Guzaarish.
Not just because he has sung two songs, but because he was part of the shooting so that the emotions of the film and the situations get infused into the singers!
Hrithik is a very fond of him and Sanjay Leela Bhansali has immaculate faith in his talent, that's why he chose Shail to assist him in his first venture as a music director.
He surely showed us all aspects of a good singer. His fabulous classical side, his deeply emotional side, his rockstar side too - from Lafange Parinde's Daddadd daddad!
One of the few extenisively trained singers we have. And Shail Hada's journey has just begun! He said, very simply, that he awaits Shanker Ehsaan Loy, Pritam and other prominent music directors to call him.
Until such time, he is enjoying his stints with the Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and some of his own tracks down south! Aadhavan..., starring Surya had his voice, where Harris Jairaj was a music dream director to work with!
May all Shail Hada's dreams come true! With the kind of humility, talent and range he has, the sky is the limit for him.
