Anamika

Music Director - Anu Malik

Lyrics - Sameer

Our Rating - 1.5/5

Anu Malik has tried to create something different with Anamika, but in the hustle to create something new, he has taken us back to the early 90s era. The only hope of the album could be the track Aashiqui if the audience is generous enough to like it, as well as the vocals of Sunidhi in Aayo re.

Aashiqui is the first song of the album sung by Shaan. The lyrics are not that heart rending, but somehow the music is tolerable. The feel of the music is more like the music we heard in the early 90s, and reminds you of films like the Raveena-Akshay starrer Mohra. The lyrics are romantic enough but the feel is definitely missing. Shaan seems stuck to his old singing style he has been sporting since Tanha dil. The audience cannot be faulted for getting a sense of d©j  vu.

Aayo re is undoubtedly the hit of the album. The music is very fast paced with western beats and Sunidhi giving her Rajasthani vocals to the song. The song would definitely get the audiences' feet tapping to the tunes. For some, it may sound like a copy of Lootela but combining the traditional vocals and western beats would definitely gather some fans. It's the kind of song that makes you want to watch the video, and if the video is good enough, the song is sure to hit the top of the charts.

The remix and the original of this song are hardly distinct from each other. Apart from the tempo and some fast beats, there is nothing much added to the remix.

Lagee Lagee is the third song of the album sung by Krishna and Sunidhi. The lyrics make no sense at all and the beats of the song just doesn't go with the feel. The vocals are not impressive and nor is the music and composition.

Finally, we hear Anu Malik in Saath, which also has a remix version but again the song fails to make an impression on the listeners. Fast paced, full of enthusiasm and peppy, the song again takes you back to the early 70's where we heard the disco numbers first.

No big difference in the remix and the original version except some extra beats and vocal raps.

Shaan again sings for the album in Shagufta dil but in vain. The music again creates no waves, neither with the lyrics nor with the music. Many may find it to be a copy of some old Bollywood song, but then that's not news in this industry.

Overall, the music of this movie would definitely not drive the viewers to the theatres nor is it going to rule the FM airwaves or cause a ripple in the ringtone market.
