Director duo Abbas-Mustan brings back the Race with its sequel Race 2 which is accompanied by some beautiful soundtrack by music composer Pritam Chakraborty. Pritam had particularly done music for many movies in 2012 and the movies that were praised for their interesting music was Barfi and Cocktail. Now he has some lovely tunes for Race 2.
High on energy, bass, rock and techno is what can be concluded only in the start when the very first soundtrack ‘Allah Duhai Hai’ of the music album of Race 2 kick starts. Seems they are trying to get back to race of music with this album. There are many voices. But Atif Aslam’s voice is prominent. The mix of lots of themes gets the vocals of Vishal Dadlani, Anushka Manchanda, Ritu Pathak and Michie One entangled in the composition. After a while the jerky effect created does not goes well with the song. This four minutes sequel song ‘Allah Duhai Hai’ from ‘Race’ doesn’t work quiet well in Race 2.
‘Party on my mind’ has a jerk-y jerky start which is quite appealing. Lingual play in lyrics with English and Hindi lyrics is enjoyable to hear. Shefali Alvares’s vocals match too well with the techno beats and that will surely make a way to become the party anthem this year. KK kick starts at right time when you feel Shefali’s voice need a support. The song gets you the surprise element with Yo Yo Honey Singh singing as well giving you a break and variety in the whole track. The lyrics are so much of the party number and the composition well mixed together boast the whole track.
The romantic number ‘Be intehaan’ gives you kind of a fairy tale set up with Sunidhi Chauhan vocals along with that magical feel given to the track. Warm vocal of Atif Aslam holds you tight to the song so completely that it submerges you into to a romantic world. Lyrics display the efforts put by Mayur Puri; hearing the lyrics alone missing the music will also display the depth of the lyrics.
The next track in the soundtrack is ‘Lat lag gayee’ rendered by Benny Dayal and Shalmali Kholgade with some upbeats. Techno style and pumping music with catchy lyrics and Dayal’s warm voice is really catchy and the melodies give you a ‘Lat’ of this song. Yet another party number which gets your body move.
‘Allah Duhai Hai’ gets more uninteresting with its remixed version, mixed by DJ Suketu feat Sachin, while the remix of ‘Be intehaan’ and ‘Party on my mind’ do not have much to say.
Mash up 2013 of various artists is created by Kiran Kamath. It has all four key songs into one track and they have also been remixed. It is clearly a good piece of work and good surprise in the album. This mix is much better than the other mixes that had been tried. It is really worth enjoying.
The film is slated to hit cinemas on 25 January 2013. But before enjoying the movie do enjoy the beautiful tracks in the album, you can skip the remixes as it sounded completely unnecessary but overall the tracks and songs were really cool and worth listening. Last track the mash up is something that I would recommend as that’s the best treat in the whole soundtrack.
