With a debut album 'Familiar Strangers' up their sleeve, Norwegian band 'Something Sally' are packing their bags for some live action in Mumbai on 31 March and 1 April at Blue Frog in Mumbai. If you ever loved swinging to the popular retro tunes, this is the band you shouldn't miss.
'Sally'brating retro
The album 'Familiar Strangers' has 12 tracks with hues of pop and soft rock wheeling around the axis of the good ol 'retro'. After giving an ear to the bands latest offering, it makes one even more eager to watch and hear them 'live'.
The album has been written over the period of three years - so, you'll hear sounds with many moods. Ever since the band hit it big time with their first single Sally can't wait', there has been no looking back. The band was also asked to join on the Joss Stone tour after being discovered by Stone herself on Myspace. The album has classics like 'The Taste' and 'Circles' which were released in 2007. Most songs are easy on ears, especially because of Ane Hagness Kiran aka Sally's addictive vocals reminicent of Annie Lennox. Ironically, the song featuring Joss Stone titled Tip of my tongue' is not as good as the bands individual tracks- but, find it for yourself! Perhaps, the only good track with a featuring artiste on the album is League of Broken Hearts feat. Thom Hell.
Sally's vocals coupled with chunky guitars and the take it easy tempo on Visualize' sets great retro mood. The lyrics, especially of songs like Visualize' and Garden of Eden' are impressive. Though the songs might give you a feeling about having heard them before – who cares when you are in a wild retro mood. Now, they really are 'something' I say.
