Possible entries to the '100 million views' club

MUMBAI: Around a month before the end of the calendar year 2015, the popular Dhanush track ‘Why This Kolaveri Di’ crossed over 100 million views on YouTube, making it the first Indian track to enter the prestigious ‘100 million views’ club. The music composed by Anirudh Ravichandran was distributed by Sony Music India and uploaded on YouTube just over four years ago. It’s quite possible the country would continue to produce compositions that will soon find its way into the ‘100 million views’ club and we shortlist few of these tracks that could possibly do so.

Dheere Dheere Se Meri Zindagi - Honey Singh

Released as a single by T-Series on 1 September 2015, the track has managed 98 million and still counting views in four months. To put in perspective, the Honey Singh track managed to amass the same number of views in four months, as Dhanush’s ‘Kolaveri Di’ managed in four years. It does not take a lot of mathematics to realise the composition would cross 100 million views, maybe as soon as before the end of the first month of 2016.

Subha Hone Na De - Desi Boyz

With over 75 million views, the party track from the movie ‘Desi Boyz’ became an instant viral upon its release. Mika Singh and Shefali Alvares lent their voices to the track featuring Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh. Composed by Pritam and uploaded over four years ago by T-Series, the growth in number of views may have slowed down lately, but the track could still continue to remain a possible candidate to cross 100 million views

Blue Eyes - Honey Singh

Love him, hate him but you definitely cannot ignore him. The country’s most popular rapper released another song through T-Series in 2013 titled ‘Blue Eyes’ and Yo Yo fans have not stopped hitting on the ‘repeat’ button since. The track has gained around 74 million views, and becomes the third most viewed track in the list (but not for long)

Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan - Roy

A relatively new track, sung by Meet Bros and Kanika Kapoor, uploaded over 10 months ago, it has already garnered over 62 million views. Achieving such a figure in 10 months is a commendable task, and only makes it a good contender to join ‘Kolaveri Di’ in the prestigious club.

Gerua - Dilwale

Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol jodi is the safest formula for a definite success, and Pritam’s composition sung by Arijit Singh and Antara Mitra made the most of the opportunity with over 30 million views in under a month. Taking no credit away from the composer and the singers, the track takes viewers back to the good ‘ol Bolly days of the 90s, thanks to SRK and Kajol. At this pace, the track definitely can cross 100 million views in less than six months.
