MUMBAI: Farhan Akhtar's drive towards issues related to empowerment of women gained new velocity with the actor-singer's plans to release a special composition titled 'We Are All On The Good Side' on 8 March 2016.
The date celebrates International Women's Day, and Akhtar - ambassador for UN Women in South Asia - has a special woman to thank for the idea behind this composition.
'We Are All On The Good Side' was inspired from a drawing by Akhtar's youngest daughter - Akira. The drawing shows people on the same side of the heart (hence the track name), will also be used for the song's
cover art.
The special song, composed by Kalyan Baruah, acts as a tribute to women across the world, celebrating their contribution to the society.
Farout Media and Farhan Akhtar's initiative to communicate and effectively interact with audiences and listeners has been evident through their previous collaborations and live shows, and with M.A.R.D., Farhan continues to reach out on the issue.
The multi-faceted artist isn't new to the idea of using music to celebrate the spirit of women. In 2014, Akhtar collaborated with music composer duo Salim-Sulaiman for the 'Helping Women Get Online' initiative's composition titled 'Chulein Aasman'.
The song will be exclusively released by Apple Music. The track, however, later will be available on all streaming services.
