Underground Authority heads out for debut international performance

MUMBAI: Begun in 2010, UA’s Kolkata to Mumbai journey has been no less than an ‘awe-friggin'-roller-coaster’ ride - as they themselves put it.

From being just one of the many city acts, to appearing on prime time national television, it has surely been a dream come true experience for the band. The alternative rap rock band is now upping the ante on its own game - it is poised to make its first international tour later this month.

Confirming the reports, band frontman Srinivas said, “Yes, we will be making our first entry in the list of international performances, as we head towards Bhutan later this August, and also release our EP there. We will be launching the EP at The Mojo Park, Thimpu, Bhutan on 26-27 August.”

“In addition to that, a full-scale South East Asia tour at the end of the year, and probably a UK/US tour in January, next year,” he added.

The band comprises EPR (Iyer) on lead rap and vocals, Adil, who is a Gibson supported artist from Gibson Guitar Corporation on lead guitars, Bubbla on bass and Sourish on drums. Sourish received the best drummer award at Hornbill International Rock Contest 2013.

“We have a lot more to achieve and strive for, in the days to come, providing we have the support of our family/fans/loyal supporters and also haters to fuel our success. It would not have been possible without the steady collaboration of Iyer (EPR), Adil, Soumyadeep (Bubbla) and of course me (smiles),” said Sourish Kumar, the drummer of the band.
