Ed Sheeran's cameo cut from 'The Beatles: Eight Days a Week' movie

MUMBAI: Singer Ed Sheeran's cameo was cut from ‘The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years’ movie.

The ‘Thinking Out Loud’ hitmaker is a big fan of The Fab Four band and also owns a guitar signed by Paul McCartney. He was asked to record a segment for filmmaker Ron Howard's documentary on the band about their years on the road.

However, the 25-year-old's piece didn't make the final version of the movie, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"Ed had recorded a segment for the film, but it failed to make the final cut along with a load of other talking heads by Ron who wanted to make more time for The Beatles themselves. Ron had to be ruthless, but Ed will be gutted. He's crazy about The Beatles and has grown really close to Paul over the past couple of years, even introducing him to his dad," The Sun newspaper quoted a source as saying.

Sheeran had developed a friendship with McCartney when he performed at the recording of the 2014 Grammy Awards Beatles tribute ‘The Night That Changed America’, which marked the 50th anniversary of the ‘Ticket to Ride’ hitmakers's appearance on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’.

"When we saw the first cut there were a lot of other people doing a lot of talking, which I believe he's cut out now and it's mainly me and Paul talking and it's better," Ringo Starr the drummer of the band, commented on the edit.

Sheeran was still given a small thank you in the credits, which read: "The producers would like to give very special thanks to the following for generously giving their time to assist with the film."
