Benny Dayal keen to lend his voice for Punjabi song

MUMBAI: He has crooned numbers in various languages like Tamil, Malyalam, Kannada, Marathi and Hindi. Singer Benny Dayal is keen to lend his voice for a Punjabi song.

"I wish to lend my voice in Punjabi because it will be another learning experience for me," Benny told IANS.

The singer says that he loves languages. "As everyone knows I love languages and Punjabi in itself is such an expressive and beautiful language," said the 32-year-old.

Benny has crooned a number titled ‘Ude Dil Befikre’ for filmmaker Aditya Chopra's forthcoming film ‘Befikre’.

Talking about the song, the singer said: "This song was composed by Vishal and Sekhar with a guitar at the stairways of Yash Raj studios. And they both needed to cast a singer with an Arabian influence. Hence they both suggested my name to Aditya Chopra the director of the film."

The ‘Badtameez Dil’ hitmaker was born and brought up in the United Arab Emirates, and says he "learnt Arabic in school for 12 years."

"I still read, write and sing in Arabic. I've participated in inter school Arabic singing competitions and won the best Arabic singer amongst other Arab schools. Hence they were convinced that I could sing the song as per their vision," he added.

Benny says the recording session was "super cool".

"Vishal and Sekhar wanted me to bring in the actual Arabic flavour to the song and I had a lot of freedom in terms of improvisation," he said.
