MUMBAI: Today EDM, pop music, guitars and drums are defined ‘cool’ and trendy, but it won’t be this way with ghazal maestro, Pankaj Udhas turning RJ. Yes, you heard it right, Udhas will be seen as an RJ on Radio Nasha 91.9 FM.
As an RJ, the Ghazal singer will talk about his journey, struggles and success. “I have decided on sharing many episodes of my life, which are interesting and very informative. People are inquisitive to know about so many things. I have stories from my childhood till now to share, with many different incidents too,” said Udhas.
Giving a nod to this show wasn’t easy for Udhas as he explained, "Initially I was nervous about taking up this task because this is very new to me. I will now be on the other side of the radio and it is a tough job. I have started recordings and getting the confidence to anchor the show. I am personally very close to Radio Nasha for its authentic retro format, so this is not going to be difficult to me.”
Udhas also finds the new phase of radio interactive and communicative. He feels the new age radio has brought the listeners closer with different RJ’s conveying things to people in their own inimitable styles.
The show is designed and formatted according to his personality and comfort. “Udhas Ji will completely be himself; the real man inside him will be seen. Along with the show, we are also trying to tell people that, Harmonium and ghazals ka bhi ek apna swag hai boss,” said a spokesperson from Radio Nasha.
