MUMBAI: Bangalore based Indian Classical/ Modern Progressive Rock/Electronic Rock band Pineapple Express is all set to release its new EP called Uplift at Khar AntiSocial on 4 October. The event will also feature the band The Family Cheese for the guest performance.
Speaking about the EP the band frontman Yogeendra said, “EP contains four songs which we will be playing at the gig with another old song. The band will also be taking pre-orders for the EP. After taking the orders we will print the CDs required and distribute them. As soon as everyone gets that we’ll release the EP.”
The EP artwork denotes how the band feels about the music. The girl in the EP artwork is listening to the music on her earphones while travelling upwards into the air. The music starts taking over her body starting from her hair, while her subconscious opens up and starts absorbing the music. He explained, “What we are trying to convey is that if you listen to our song you’ll feel this way. The EP is about the deep journey into music. Her third eye is opened and she is listening to music. She is experiencing the sense of tranquillity and oneness with music.”
About the songs, Yogeendra said, “This EP has been in the works since five months although drum tracking was finished almost a year back. I've been writing music for this band since four years now and we finally have a stable lineup so we decided to put it out now. Some of these are old songs; Cloud 8.9 and Uplift are over three years old.”
The first song Cloud 8.9 contains no lyrics, only Indian classical vocals fused with happy metal. The MAD Song is second track from the EP which is a story about the aftermath of an acid (LSD) trip. Don't Go Away is about how we try and get back stuff that we lose, even if we know it's gone. Last song is Uplift- the title track and it talks about some of my bad phases in life and how it all made me a better person in the end. Everything happens for the best.
The eight-piece band consists of Yogeendra Hariprasad Brains/keys/vocals/production, Karthik Chennoji Rao- Vocals, Jimmy Francis- vocals Bhargav Sarma- guitars, Ritwik Bhattacharya- guitars, Gopi Shravan- drums, Arjun MPN- flute, Shravan Sridhar- violin and Abhinav Joshi- sound engineer.
