Mirchi RJ Sana moves to TV

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi jock Sana Shiekh is making her foray into television and has grabbed a lead role in an upcoming daily soap on Sony television. Sana has joined the bandwagon of the jocks seeking solace in television recently after ex-Big FM RJ Archana Jani and Fever FM's RJ Karan Singh Rathore have taken up as hosts for Zee's Mega Challenge

I&B proposes 26% FDI, sourced news for Phase 3 of FM radio

NEW DELHI: Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni on Monday said a note was being finalised for the Cabinet to recommend an increase in foreign direct investment (FDI) limit from the current 20 per cent to 26 per cent for FM radio. She also proposed allowing Akashvani-sourced news on private FM radio. Addressing the World Economic Forum's India Economic Summit, Soni said the Ministry was in an advanced stage of considering a hike in the FDI cap to 26 per cent from the current 20 per cent, as recommended by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

Music Check on 70 mm - Music trapped in Jail

MUMBAI: Madhur Bhandarkar's Jail was well received by the critics but the film barely had any space for its music. The much hyped �Data Sun Le' sung by Lata Mageshkar was played only in parts in the film much to the disappointment of her fans. The item number �Bareily ke bazzar mein' composed by Shamir Tandon and picturised on Sayali Bhagat seems like a forced add on. Sung by Sonu Kakkar, the film could have done without it and was yet another passable item number in Bollywood.

MJ family to appear on reality show

MUMBAI: Cable TV A&E will air reality show that will see deceased popstar Michael Jackson's family as a part of it. "The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty," will air Dec. 13 and focus on Michael's brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Tito and Marlon, as they reunite for a concert tour. The show will be back-to-back hour-long installments and ultimately run a total of six episodes.

EMI drags two file sharing websites to court

MUMBAI: Two music sharing websites have been temporarily blocked BlueBeat.com and Basebeat.com for selling The Beatles song for 25 cents a piece. EMI has dragged the website claiming that they also involved in piracy and infringed on copyrights of artists' like The Beach Boys, Coldplay and Lily Allen.
