Birthday Special: Singers who crooned for Madhuri Dixit

MUMBAI: An epitome of grace, beauty, and talent, Madhuri Dixit celebrates her 52nd birthday today. Popular in the Hindi film fraternity as the ‘Dhak Dhak girl’, Madhuri has stole hearts by her dance moves and expressions. Madhuri has also been the face for many singers, both, legendary and new comers. So, on the occasion of her birthday, we thought of sharing songs, sung by various singers for Madhuri Dixit.

Shreya Ghoshal

Tabah Ho Gaye is Madhuri’s latest song, from the Bollywood film, Kalank that stole hearts. While Shreya’s voice is the soul of Tabah Ho Gaye, Madhuri’s intricate dance movements on Pritam’s composition and facial expressions added to its beauty.

Sunidhi Chauhan

Aaja Nachle was almost her comeback film post shifting to India with husband and kids. This title track was sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and suited Madhuri’s character in the film. Sunidhi’s voice brought alive the exact expression of the song, while Madhuri ensured to make it look visually enthralling.

Lata Mangeshkar

Who will ever forget those dance moves and the purple saree in Didi Tera Dewar Deewana? The more amazing part was that legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar had lent her voice to the then much younger Madhuri Dixit. The singer was quite successful in bringing out the right emotion for the song i.e. ‘mischief’.

Asha Bhosle

Another singer, who crooned for Madhuri is Asha Bhonsle. She sang Tumse Milke Aisa Laga along with Suresh Wadkar for the film, Parinda, which wasn’t music oriented, but this track has lingered on. Asha’s voice was the apt match for Dixit in this R D Burman track.

Alka Yagnik

EK Do Teen was the career establishing song for both Alka Yagnik and Madhuri Dixit. While Alka sang many songs for Madhuri later in her career, this song still remains the game changer.

Kavita Krishnamurthy

While singer Kavita Krishnamurthy has lent her voice to many songs of Madhuri Dixit, but Que Sera Sera song saw Madhuri Dixit matching steps with Prabhudeva to the tunes composed by A R Rahman, hence it is special!

Anuradha Paudwal

Another song that took Madhuri’s name notches higher was Dhak Dhak Karne Laga. In fact, she is still known as the ‘Dhak Dhak girl’. Sung by Anuradha Paudwal and composed by Dilip Sen-Sameer Sen, this song is counted among the iconic numbers in the history of Hindi film music.

Anupama Deshpande

This song is one of the most memorable songs of Madhuri. Her pitch perfect dance, the folk-based tune composed by Bappi Lahiri and the melodious voice of Anupama Deshpande is a delight to hear and needless to add to watch!
