Napster debuts web's first co-branded Disney radio station

MUMBAI: Walt Disney Records has partnered with Napster, an online music file sharing service, for an exclusive commercial-free "Best of Disney" radio station, featuring music from Disney's world-renowned catalog. Offering a collection of digital music for kids, 'tweens and families, Napster's "Best of Disney" radio station will features favorites from the Walt Disney records catalog, including Disney artists like Hannah Montana, High School Musical, along with the new Camp Rock soundtrack album featuring the Jonas Brothers.

Radio City Hyderabad crowns its first Fun Jockey

MUMBAI: Radio City Hyderabad's hunt for the Fun Jockey ended on 12 July, with the title of 'Navvula Don' awarded to Asif who won the contest and became the first Fun Jockey of the radio station. Shiva Reddy and Telugu superstar Madhushalini judged the grand finale of the contest. The finale was hosted by RJ Vamsee and RJ Akira. The audience witness their favourite Fun Jockeys performing live at the City Center Mall. Radio City had organised the month long 'Navvula Don' - a hunt to zero in on the wittiest Telugu Fun Jockey in the city of Hyderabad with his sense of humour.

Rahul Vaidya is Star's Superstar

MUMBAI: Runner up of Sony's first season of Indian Idol, Rahul Vaidya was adjudged Star Plus' first singing 'Superstar' this weekend. Star claims that the musical reality show, Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar, has topped the TRP charts week after week in its genre. Leading the race, Rahul Vaidya won the title with 216693 votes, while Abhijeet and Harshit came second and third with 202321 and 156291 votes.

MUMBAI: The most awaited 8GB Apple iPod launched on 11 July in 22 countries worldwide. The new model combines all the revolutionary features of iPhone with 3G networking, built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software. PC, TV are new platforms for music in US, says survey

MUMBAI: A Parks Associates survey has found that a majority of US and Canadian citizens use the PC and Television to listen to music. Estimates say two-thirds of the broadband households surveyed regularly use the PC to play music while at home, and one-third use a television to listen to music. In a new report by Digital Media Habits II, MP3 players ranked equal to TVs, with one-third of households using these platforms for music. Digital Media Habits II is a study of media trends in the US and Canada.

Music India to launch India's first Bhojpuri music channel

MUMBAI: Media Worldwide, which runs Hindi music channel Music India and Bangla music channel Sangeet Bangla, is set to launch a Bhojpuri music channel on 14 July. Sangeet Bhojpuri will be the first music channel in Bhojpuri language. The back-to-back music format of Sangeet Bhojpuri will be same as Music India. It will have "simply music" round the clock.
