Pak singers to perform at Delhi fest

MUMBAI: The Folklore Society of Pakistan (FSP) has selected well-known 'qawal party' Ustad Akhtar Sharif-Sabir (Aroop Waley) from Gujranwala, Javed Bashir Ahmed, the principal singer of Mekal Hasan band and Ustad Shafi Muhammad Faqir, the renowned singer from Cholistan and his group to perform at 'Bhakti Utsav', the annual festival of mystic music being held at Nehru Park from 11 to 13 April 2008.

Apple tops brand survey, but consumers say Sony's a peach

MUMBAI: Although Apple scored top marks in the 2008 Brandjunkie survey, Apple's popular iPod range didn't make the top three in a poll of 293 MP3 players. According to online consumer review site www.reevoo.com, the MP3 player race was dominated by Sony with the Sony NWE016BC just nudging the Sony NWZA816 into second place. Third was the Hitachi DMP20 2GB, followed by the New Green iPod Nano 8GB in fourth and the Black Samsung YP-P2JCB 8GB in fifth.

Worldspace starts car radio service in Germany

MUMBAI: Worldspace Satellite Radio has received an approval from Bundesnetzagentur, Germany's Federal Network Agency to provide German consumers with a subscription-based satellite radio service in automobiles. It authorized World Space to use 12.5 MHz of spectrum in the L-band (1479.5 - 1492 MHz) on a nation-wide basis for the operation of a terrestrial repeater network in Germany.

MUMBAI: The plagiarism case which music composer Ram Sampath had filed against Rakesh Roshan and Rajesh Roshan for "directly lifting" his music for Krazzy4, has been settled "out of court". Thus, the case seeking damages of Rs 20 million has been vacated.

Digital sales to account for 40 pc of music purchases by '12

MUMBAI: Digital sales of music will go up to 40 per cent of all music purchased worldwide by 2012, according to US based research firm In Stat. Digital sales went up to 10 per cent of the total in 2007, up from six per cent in 2006.

Court orders Krazzy4 release with two songs cut

MUMBAI: Rakesh Roshan's film Krazzy4 will be released on Friday 11 April 2008 with its title track deleted. Music composer Ram Sampath, who sought legal recourse for his 60-second music titled ?‹?“The Thump being copied as the title track of Krazzy 4, has also been granted interim relief of Rs 25,00,000 by the Mumbai High court on Thursday. Sampath had dragged Hrithik Roshans director father Rakesh Roshan and composer uncle Rajesh Roshan, to court, alleging that they have directly lifted his music for the Krazzy4 album, seeking damages of Rs 20 million.
