MUMBAI: India's eminent folk singer-producer, and film score composer Raghu Dixit joins a virtual entertainment experience “Love 2 Humanity” that aims to raise funds and support the folk artists of Zariya foundation being launched on Sunday, May 31st 2020 which is a not-for-profit experience.
The whole world is facing a crisis like we never expected due to the pandemic. “Love2Humanity is an initiative to encourage the spirit of humanity in such a crisis to reach out to help people who are suffering due to this pandemic”, said Raghu Dixit going forward with “Love 2 Humanity”
During an exclusive interview Raghu shared the concept behind the project, “Oum Pradutt of Phase 1 called and asked if I can come up with an Anthem that could resonate as a message from India to the rest of the world that we all stand in solidarity with all the people of this world as one. I asked my Lyricist, Neeraj Rajawat, to come up with words, and it was he who suggested that we come up with a song based on the ever so relevant ancient Sanskrit couplet 'Lokaaha Samastaaha Sukhinobhavantu.
Samastaaha Lokaaha Sukhinobhavantu, means ‘May the whole world live in Happiness’. He composed the music for the beautiful words that Neeraj wrote and sang the song too. They have a music video shot by Aloke Shetty at Vidhan Soudha, in Bangalore, apart from the scenes observed during the pandemic from around the world.
Later, Salim Merchant and Suleiman Merchant of the famed Bollywood Duo composers Salim-Suleiman got involved and the whole Love2Humanity concert took a bigger shape and the concert was a medium to raise funds in aid of Zariya Foundation which works with the grassroot level folk musicians of Rajasthan, said the singer. “I couldn't have been much prouder to be associated with such a noble cause. Many more artists like Kubra Sait, Danish Sait, Nithya Menen, Best Kept Secret too joined in the concert among others to not just perform but express their solidarity for the cause”, he adds.
Raghu truly empathise with the entire cause and we are all in this together. “I am very happy and honoured to be a part of this huge ensemble of artists and great personalities from all over the country. I just hope the message we intend to spread through the Love2Humanity anthem and the concert reaches out far and wide to the entire world”.
The only thing that’s different for him is performing virtually is the absence of a physical crowd in front of my eyes like in a concert. He feeds off the energy of a crowd but sitting in my studio and imagining a crowd in front of him and perform was bit of a challenge. The singer thoroughly enjoyed performing the concert and had my usual share of fun doing so.
“We are all in this together and we all have serious responsibilities not just to contain the disease from spreading but also we can reach out to help the people suffering by donating money or contributing as a volunteer. We should stand united in this crisis and help one another”, Raghu Dixit concluded.
