NEW DELHI: All India Radio, which has a spectrum of just 4.7 MHz exclusively reserved for its FM services will need more spectrum for setting up 385 new FM transmitters in the country under the 12th Plan. Information and Broadcasting Ministry sources told Radioandmusic.com that only 100 to 103.7 was presently reserved exclusively for FM broadcasting services by AIR. The broadcaster would need the additional spectrum for increasing the FM coverage to 90 per cent population.

The DVD ‘Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones: Live at the Checkerboard Lounge Chicago 1981’ will also be released as a DVD/2LP vinyl set. The historic concert took place when blues legend Muddy Waters was joined by most of the members of Rolling Stone, including Mick Jagger. The performance of Rolling Stones was a surprise during the concert which was fronted by Waters.

While admitting that AIR had failed to meet its projected target in any of the years of the Eleventh plan, Prasar Bharati sources also told radioandmusic.com that the projection for 2012-13 had provisionally been kept at Rs 3.5 billion. AIR had earned Rs 2.5739 billion in 2010-11 against a projection of Rs 3.25 billion.
