Metal band Opeth to headline Summerstorm Festival 2012

MUMBAI: For the first time ever Swedish heavy metal band Opeth will perform a live concert in India. The heavy metal band will headline the second edition of Summerstorm Festival 2012, to be held on 5 February in Bangalore. The progressive giants will showcase their two decades of work at the fest organized by Overture. The first edition of the fest was headlined by the rock/metal legends Lamb of God.

Filmfare honours AR Rahman with 2500th black lady

MUMBAI: The 57th Filmfare awards bestowed AR Rahman with the 2500th black lady (diamond-studded statuette), the maestro recieved the award for best music director - Rockstar. The talented composer has earlier won 14 Filmfare awards,  13 Filmfare South along with numerous international honours. Rated amongst his finest work, Rahman's compositions in Rockstar managed to sweep the music awards at yet another award ceremony.

Sonu Nigam to perform in Australia and New Zealand

MUMBAI: After his widely acclaimed Australian tours in March 2005 and April 2008, popular versatile singer Sonu Nigam is all set to Rock Australia and New Zealand in April 2012. Commencing from 6 April in Sydney, the tour will be held on 8 April in Melbourne, 13 April in Brisbane and 14 April in Auckland. Red FM on mobile; partners Uninor and Hungama

MUMBAI: In its zest to be in the race, Red FM has announced its first of a kind initiative by providing its listeners with their hometown radio station accessible on mobile handsets. Red FM has partnered with Uninor and Hungama Mobile for the venture. The service would be available through Red FM stations of Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Chennai and Bangalore. Customers can access the eight stations from across the country for a maximum charge of Rs 10 for a week with usage upto 100 minutes.

MUMBAI: Renowned singers Jay-Z and Beyonce have featured number 13 on Billboard first Power 100 chart. The couple are the only artistes to feature within the top 20 on the list. Both Jay-Z and Beyonce made the list due to numerous ventures outside their singing careers including Jay- Z's Roc Nation music, management and entertainment company along with Beyonce's sponsorship deals with brands such as L'Oreal.

Radio One goes international in Mumbai and Delhi; launches an in-house band 'One for the Road'

Folktronic artiste Shri scores for Google Chrome short film

MUMBAI: UK based multi-talented folktronic artiste Shrikant Sriram a.k.a �Shri' has scored background music for Google Chrome short film �Tanjore- the web is what you make it.' Rockstar music sweeps three trophies at Apsara Awards 2012

MUMBAI: Maintaining its lead in the award ceremonies this year, Rockstar has bagged three honours for music at the seventh Apsara awards 2012. Oscar winning composer AR Rahman's Rockstar won the Best Music while Irshad Kamil picked up the Best Lyrics for �Naadaan Parindey'. Mohit Chauhan walked away with the Best Playback Singer Male award for the cult song �Sadda Haq' from the same movie. Amongst the females, Shreya Goshal bagged the Best Playback Singer award for �Teri Meri' from Bodyguard.

BBC, ECB extends its radio broadcast deal till 2019

MUMBAI: BBC has extended its live radio broadcast deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for six years. The deal allows BBC radio to continue their Test Match Special exclusive broadcast of ball-by-ball commentary on international cricket from 2014-2019. The extension enables radio to cover two home Ashes series of 2015 and 2019, tours of India in 2014 and South Africa in 2017. The agreement also provides BBC radio with live and exclusive coverage of all England's home Test, One-Day International and T20 series.
