MUMBAI: Singer-songwriter Nischay Parekh has been a mainstay of the Indian indie music scene since releasing his charming nine-song collection of dreamy, experimental pop songs called Ocean in 2013. His next stint was as one half of the dream pop duo Parekh & Singh, that took India and the world by storm with their perfect pop and pastel suits.
Parekh revealed in February 2025 that the duo have disbanded much to their fans’ despair but also announced his new solo project, TV Dinner and his first single, ‘Guessing Games’.
TV Dinner is now out with a second single, ‘Non Believers’, and will continue to put out a single every month, for the next few months. Listen to ‘Non Believers’ here.
“This life as an artist is a gift, having engaged listeners and supporters is a blessing,” says Parekh, who now resides in Dubai. “I just want to do a large range of work with a large range of collaborators and publish it frequently. TV Dinner is the vehicle that will allow me to do that,” he adds.
Parekh & Singh left a huge impact on the scene with their euphonious, reflective indie-pop songs and Wes Anderson-esque approach to storytelling in music videos, and while TV Dinner will see Parekh create more stripped down indie rock and pop songs, the soul of TV Dinner will feel comfortably familiar to Parekh & Singh fans.
“I spent a lot of the last decade researching and building the P&S universe, a lot of those elements are intrinsic to who I am,” Parekh offers, adding, “Also I wrote all the songs and music in the project, and I’m still only able to write very personal songs. So the perspective and style of a lot of my music is bound to feel familiar.”
‘Non Believers’, his second song as TV Dinner, is a song about the sweet pain of love – one he started writing in 2016 after heartbreak, and completed only recently after marrying his best friend and becoming a parent in 2023. It bears trademarks of Parekh’s songwriting – tender and personal – and full of hope.
“This song is about the promise of true love, and never giving up on the idea of finding your soulmate,” he explains. “I framed the idea of love as a fairy tale, almost like something that we're programmed to not believe in. Eventually, we're reminded that it exists in the most beautifully unexpected ways. ‘Non Believers’ is about optimism,” he adds.
Parekh intends to be more prolific as TV Dinner and even promises to perform more regularly, even hinting at an Indian tour in the offing.
“I want to release more music and play more concerts than I have in the past,” he says. “I'll be releasing a new song every month of this year. We’re already putting together the live show and planning a tour of India,” he adds.
‘Non Believers’ is available on all streaming platforms and the video can be seen here.
