MUMBAI: Delhi-based electronic-rock duo FuzzCulture will start touring to promote its debut album – 'No' from next month onwards. The duo has been signed under Contrabands, a property of Universal Music, Vh1 and Hard Rock Café.
'No' has eight songs, with the first single 'Open Eyes' scheduled for release in a few days. "We wrote our EP 'Indulge.Divulge' a couple of years ago, and thought that the natural next step would be to work on a full-length studio album. We started work on it in early 2014 and finished just a few months ago," said Mahajan on the album.
He also said that the sound of the album has evolved from that of the EP. "We have not restricted ourselves to one sub-genre of electronic music. We have deliberately let go of any sort of music genre labeling," stated Mahajan. "We are two guys who have been listening to rock music for a long time and have been playing rock music for a while now, and have incorporated rock with electronic music," he added.
The album's artwork has been designed by Visual Amnesia's Reuben Bhattacharya, who is also metal band- Undying Inc.'s bassist. Speaking about the artwork, Mahajan said, "We spoke to Reuben about the album art and troubled him with the details that you see in the design. He truly has done a wonderful job with it. I love the colour pink and wanted that to be shown in the album art."
The cover art depicts eight animals, each representing the theme of the eight songs. The animal associated with the first single 'Open Eyes' is called Stoner Wabbit, which is depicted by an intoxicated rabbit. "Without saying too much, I can tell you that the song is about various people getting stoned," added Mahajan.
Mahajan, who also plays for Parikrama, said that the second single will be 'Wolf in Sheep's Clothing'. These tracks feature on the album, which is scheduled for release on 12 May.
FuzzCulture was formed in 2011 by childhood friends Mahajan and Arsh Sharma. Since then, the duo has received several nominations, including Best Emerging Act at the Jack Daniel's Annual Rock Awards and South East Asia's AVIMA (Asia Voice Indie Music Awards). FuzzCulture also performed at the AVIMA awards show in Kuala Lumpur last March.
From 14 May onwards, FuzzCulture will be performing every Thursday at Hard Rock Café in Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai and Gurgaon.
