MUMBAI: Siddharth Basrur's new band- Last Remaining Light has finally released its very first single, titled ‘Fire Drill Gone Wild'. And Basrur has revealed that the band will go straight to releasing its debut, self titled album, without putting out any more singles.
"We are looking at a July release for the album; however we are still in negotiations with a few people. Anurag is currently in Europe and will be back in a month, so after that, we will focus on releasing the album," said Basrur. During the release of the album, he said that the band would tour countrywide. "I want to play as many gigs as possible as in as many places across the country as possible," Basrur added.
According to Basrur, the songs on the upcoming album are a mix of personal journeys and collective experiences over the past few years. “The tracks in the album are all about perception. Every song has more than one meaning,” said Basrur on the album. Last Remaining Light also recorded an acoustic version of their track ‘Conclusions' for BalconyTV.
When asked whether he wrote all the songs himself, Basrur said, “While all the songs have been conceptualised by me, there are a few tracks which the band has written collectively.”
The four-piece band features Basrur and Anurag Shanker sharing vocal and guitar duties with The Koniac Net's Adil Kurwa on bass and Karun Kannampilly on drums. The ten-track album has been recorded and mixed by Tejas Narayan at Arbit Random Studio, Mumbai, and is being mixed at Nagasaki Sound, Las Vegas.
In addition to Last Remaining Light, Basrur also lends vocals for television commercials. In recent times he has sung commercials for Domino's Pizza, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Hyundai i20 Active, Swift Dzire and most recently for the promotional track for Tata AIA. “The Tata AIA track was composed by Clinton Cerejo, and instead of being a short composition, there is full four minutes long track which has been recorded and released,” he added.
