Sun's Udaya TV to launch Kannada version of 'Music ka Maha Muqabla'

BANGALORE: Following Gemini TV's announcement to launch the Telugu version of Music Ka Maha Muqabla titled Sangeeta Mahayuddham, Sun TV Network's Kannada channel Uday TV has also decided to launch a similar offering titled Sangeeta Mahayuddha. The Tamil, Telugu and Kannada versions of the show will be launched concurrently on 26 June. The Malayalam version will be launched on 28 June on Sun's Surya TV. All the four versions are being produced by Saibaba Telefilms, which is also the producer of the original Music ka Muqabla for Star Plus.

9XM starts online streaming

MUMBAI: Bollywood music channel 9XM has launched 9XM Live – the online free service, which allows viewers to watch 9XM live on their computer screens. 9XM Live is available on the Channel's new website – www.9xm.in. With this, 9XM claims it is the first music channel to stream its content live, on its official website. So far, only news channels have life streaming on their respective websites.

Film producers oppose copyright amendment

MUMBAI: Film producers expressed their strong opposition to amend the 53-year-old copyright bill which would bestow independent rights to writers, lyricists and singers, thereby entitling them to royalty. Members of Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPA) deposed before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on HRD and opposed the proposed Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2010, saying it will affect their interest, mentions a PTI report. Producers like Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt, Yash Chopra and Ramesh Sippy expressed their views before the Standing Committee.

Prince to grab life time achievement at BET awards 2010

MUMBAI: American pop music icon Prince will be honoured with a lifetime achievement award this month at the 10th annual Black Entertainment Television Awards. The 52-year-old singer, musician, songwriter, composer and producer will be felicitated at the BET Awards in Los Angeles on June 27, according to reports. "Prince is dynamic. Prince is genius. Prince is music," the BET television network president of programming- music and specials Stephen G. Hill said in a statement.
