Janet Jackson's 'NO SLEEEP' climbs the charts

MUMBAI: 'NO SLEEEP', the debut single from Janet Jackson's long awaited first studio album in seven years, keeps on climbing the charts, claiming the #5 spot on the Urban AC chart only three weeks after its debut. It was announced jointly by BMG, Live Nation and William Morris Endeavor. The sultry single saw a four position jump from last week. "NO SLEEEP" has also seen a jump on Billboard's Adult R & B chart, claiming the #6 spot, increasing its position from last week's #8 spot.

"'NO SLEEEP' has completely taken us by surprise by how quickly it has taken off," said Jon Cohen, EVP, Recorded Music, BMG US/ Vagrant Records. "What was meant to be a laid-back introduction to the campaign has taken Urban AC by storm, hitting the Top Five within three weeks and has sold 60,000 singles in two weeks. All I can say to all of Janet's fans is 'Wait til you hear the rest of the album!'"

"Fans across the continent have been showing Janet Jackson that their love for her and her music is 'Unbreakable,''" said Brad Wavra of Live Nation. "Ticket sales are on fire, we continue to add shows as demand for tickets is unprecedented."

Last week, the iconic entertainer treated her fans to a special surprise, releasing a Lyric Video like no other to the hit single. The groundbreaking Lyric Video features glimpses of behind-the-scenes footage of the single's recording, a resumed collaboration with legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, who co-produce the album with Ms. Jackson.

Janet Jackson sent her fans into social media frenzy on May 15 when she announced via Twitter, "This year, new music, new world tour, a new movement." The Unbreakable World Tour's first leg, a 39-date tour, starts Aug. 31 in Vancouver, BC, and includes stops in cities such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Nashville, Cincinnati and Honolulu. The second leg of the North American tour will kick off on January 12, 2016 in Portland, OR and will visit 27 additional cities including dates in New York City, Washington DC, Boston, Houston, Dallas and Philadelphia.

Keith Sarkisian of William Morris Endeavor notes, "We're seeing an incredible response to the 'Unbreakable' Tour. Janet's fans are thrilled with her new music and that she is touring again, shown by multiple sellouts around the country at venues like The Forum, Air Canada Center and Blaisdale Arena."
