One of the most awaited movies of 2015, ‘Gabbar Is Back’ features Akshay Kumar, Shruti Haasan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, and is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The trailer received positive responses, particularly after Akshay Kumar’s successful venture with the film ‘Baby’. The music of the film is composed by Chirantan Bhatt, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Manj Musik and the song ‘Tere Meri Kahani’ is already a rage. Radioandmusic.com brings to you the review of the album, which has four tracks.
Tere Meri Kahani
The romantic ballad crooned by Arijit Singh and Palak Muchhal is pleasing to the ear. Bhatt brings in a breath of fresh air as the song is upbeat unlike most Arijit Singh numbers. Full marks to Singh for his vocals skills. However, the track could probably have been better if Muchhal did not ape the singing style of Shreya Ghoshal and had been herself. Manoj Yadav’s lyrics are impressive and easy to understand. It is a track you can listen to on repeat.
Coffee Peetey Peetey
‘Coffee Peetey Peetey’ has contemporary musical instrumentation which sounds good. One of the best things about is that the heavy percussion in the background does not over power the vocals of Dev Negi and Paroma Das Gupta. Both singers have done a good job, and overall, a good track to listen to.
Aao Raja
Sung by Neha Kakkar and Yo Yo Honey Singh, the track is a sort-of misfit on the album, considering the other tracks are real quality ones. While Yo Yo has tried to add dance music elements to the track, the double meaning lyrics are total turn off. Unless you are a Honey Singh fan, the track will probably have you reaching for the ‘Next’ button.
Warna Gabbar Aa Jayega
The name Gabbar reminds you of the renowned ‘Sholay’ villain Gabbar. But here, lyricists Raftaar and Big Dhillon have instead depicted this Gabbar (played by Akshay Kumar) as a hero. The track ‘Warna Gabbar Aa Jayega’ has elements of electronic music and the upbeat song is a good listen.
The album comprises good songs and Bhatt offers some ‘hatke’ compositions to make the music more appealing. It will be interesting to see if the movie gets similar responses.
‘Gabbar Is Back’ will hit theaters on 1 May 2015.
